NY Wedding Photography | Veronica + Wes
Who says you need a year to plan a wedding? Meet Veronica and Wes. Their relationship began as a friendship a few years ago and blossomed into romance. While visiting Veronica’s family in Ghana in November, Wes popped the question. On their flight back home, they decided, “Why wait? Let’s just get married next month.” So, what happens when you give yourself 3 weeks to plan a wedding? For this truly blessed couple, close friends and family came together to help make it happen.
The wedding was set for December 21, and they officially hired me the Wednesday night before the wedding. We walked around the area where they wanted photos taken—there was snow on the ground and it was freezing cold. I said, “Okay, we can make this work. We’ll still have daylight after the ceremony and we can get some good shots in the park.” On the day of the wedding, the temperature was in the 60s and all the snow was gone from our photo location. Great! Who could ask for more, right? Well, the only glitch for the day is that the ceremony began a little later than planned, and afterwards all the daylight had faded away. Well, what did I do? I stuck to Plan A, and made it work… “cause this is what I do” (to quote a good friend of mine). Night shots came out better than expected. Take a peek at some of the images of the day and let me know what you think. A big shout out to Mel Gattis for his assistance as my second shooter for the day.
Wow Mary! This is great. I love the idea of the story behind the pics. Wes and I are so happy that we had you to take our photos that day. Your love for what you do poured out into every picture taken and we are forever grateful:-)
